Introductory Preservation Webinars
To establish a common baseline of knowledge, all workshop participants can be asked to take an online introduction to preservation before the workshop series begins. This six- session asynchronous course provides the background needed to understand the risk assessment, planning, and response components of the workshops better. The first couple of webinars focus on collections: how they deteriorate, how they can be safely stored, which collections could be hazardous during emergency response, and how to protect against pests and mold. The rest focus on the building and issues that relate to risk assessment and firefighting, such as the design and layout of the building, existing fire detection and suppression, security measures in place, and how well the facility is maintained.
