Managing Your Construction Grant (2016-2017 Round): Introduction

Congratulations!

This guide is written for 2016-2017 MPLCP construction grant round recipients, and is intended to help you navigate your way through the sometimes confusing process of accepting and managing your construction grant. This guide has information about grant contracts and agreements, the payment schedule and reporting requirements.

First things first

You have 6 months from the date of the MBLC vote approving your provisional grant award to secure your local funding. The letter you receive from the MBLC confirming your grant's approval will show this date.

Here are the first steps to take once you have your local funding:

  1. Send a certified copy of your Town Meeting vote (see your Town Clerk)
  2. If all or part of your local funds are from private sources, send a notarized letter from your trustees stating that the funds are available

Then we send you a set of contracts to review & sign

Documents & forms

Your packet will include:

  • The "Standard Contract" – the state's boilerplate contract for receiving and expending state funds

  • The "Agreement" – agreement specific to your MPLCP project regarding expectations of how it must be administered and carried out

  • Signature verification form – signature authorization so that the right people on the local level are identified as responsible for accepting, safeguarding and expending funds
