Developing a Library Building Program: Who's Patience?

Patience at the Milton Library

Patience Kenney Jackson

Patience was the driving force behind the MBLC's Library Construction Program from its inception in 1987 until her retirement in 2012. For more than 40 years, she worked as a librarian, library administrator, and library building specialist. Patience's touch is visible on almost every public library improvement project across the state; she left the Commonwealth with an incredible legacy of public library buildings, and the foundation upon which many more will be built.

Most of the quotes under the heading Patience says came from A Library Building Program Workbook, 3rd edition, written in 1999 by Patience Kenney Jackson. Never formally published, it was the foundation upon which this guide was built.

Patience is currently a Library Building Consultant.
