The Board of Library Commissioners holds trustee orientations sessions in the spring and fall. These sessions are aimed at new trustees, but all trustees and library directors are welcome to attend. Sessions last about 2 hours, cover a range of topics relevant to being an effective trustee, and include time for questions and answers.
We make every effort to cover all parts of the Commonwealth to reach as many trustees as possible. This is a great opportunity to get to know key staff members at MBLC, as well as trustees from your neighboring libraries!
Are you interested in having a trustee orientation session held at your library or a library near you?
Please contact Erin Williams Hart, MBLC Trustee/Friends Information Specialist, and we'll see what we can do!
Thank you to the 80+ Library Trustees who attended our Trustee Orientations in Spring 2017! We hope you found it to be a worthwhile experience.
MBLC and MLS will resume the Orientations in the Fall of 2017. Check back for updates!

These 2-hour sessions are a great opportunity to meet key MBLC staff who work with trustees, to learn more and ask questions about your roles and responsibilities as a member of a library board, and to meet trustees from your neighboring communities.
